Celebrating Independence

All is coming together for the Holiday Weekend, it looks as though the mommy nature will cooperate with us!! The Harbor is having a "double wammy" fireworks display, as the windjammers fireworks were canceled due to rain so they are combining with this Saturday night display!
It looks as though there are more events planned for the peninsula this weekend, many vendors, music, boat cruises-I might do the Sat. night one with island and lighthouse tour and watching the fireworks from the water!
I have decided to toss the cookie jar, well, just move it to the guest kitchen. I will be serving my great Carrot Cake-it is sooooo moist and filled with nuts, raisins, pineapple, coconut, and what ever else I dream up to toss in.
My new 5ft round fire pit will be a hit this winter, my backhoe guy Pat brought his crew, stone, steel, backhoe and built the pit last fall! I will get photos up on that soon. He made the pit from a retired underground storage tank! It is very cool, with stone around the base area and my wicker outdoor furniture adorning it all. The pit is out in my gardens, so there is privacy for late night conversation.
I will be serving my Angle Cakes again this summer-they are a very thick, moist, fluffy pancake-the recipe? I will be happy to print off a copy for you before your departure. My stuffed french toast is always a hit, I make it different every time, the best is when my pear tree is dropping the tons of Bartletts all over my courtyard! I am going to devise a net to suspend under the tree to catch them this year!
I plan to offer special "Afternoon Tea Parties" in the gardens some afternoons this summer, with a special "Kenniston Tea"~nudge, nudge,, haha.
So, I will sign off for now, and plan to see you back here soon! XO
